postheadericon Watch The Princess and the Frog Online

As a zealous Disney fan I’ve always watched every single Disney movie that comes out. From the Lion King to Enchanted, I have watched every last movie. Now, Disney is releasing another great work. This one is titled: The Princess and the Frog. It’s a deviation of the old story of where a princess kisses a frog who then turns into a prince. However, in this stroy the frog gets kissed but instead of turning into the prince that he used to be, the princess turns into a frog! How funny right? This is why I HAVE to watch this movie!

postheadericon Princess Dress Up Clothes Review

If you ask many little girls what their favorite thing is, they will say, “Princesses!”  You don’t have to go to Disneyland to see them make their mark on young children any more.  You can hardly go to the store without seeing hundreds of princess items from cereal, to birthday cakes, to dolls and costumes.  There is princess merchandising in virtually every venue from music to television to clothing.

Many parents are at a loss when looking for the perfect gift or play item for their little girls that involve princesses.  There is just so much to choose from.  Where do you start?  The perfect item to start out with, is a good quality dress up costume.  How do you find a costume that won’t fall apart, and will withstand the every day play of your child or toddler?

Try looking at your local mall or online at the Disney Store.  In the Spring and the Fall, they often do clearance sales to move their current inventory.  Princess costumes are not just for Disneyland any more, they are for every day play.  Once your child has one on, it will be hard to get her in her “regular” clothes for an outing!  The Disney store has dresses from Ariel to Belle and sometimes you can find sizes from little girls to big girls.  The price range for dresses at the Disney Store is usually from $20-$75.

You may also try your local discount store like Walmart or Target.  They often carry a few princes dress up clothes at a discount.  They are usually smaller sizes that only fit little girls, ages 2-4.  They may have shorter skirts or thinner material to make up the price difference between them and the Disney Store.  If you want your dress up to last and as an investment in a toy your child will play with for years to come, don’t buy a princess dress at a discount store.  It will easily rip and fall apart and your child will grow out of it quickly.

If you are looking for something a little less fancy or for a dress that is not your typical “Disney” costume, yet one that is more durable and made from good quality fabric, you could even try a dress made by Little Advetures.  They have all of the main princess dresses as well as other princesses such as Medieval Princess, Pink Princess, and fairy princess dresses.  The best thing about these costumes is they are machine washable.  That’s like a parents dream come true!  They don’t itch and are soft and comfortable to wear, even all day long.  Too bad the same thing can’t be said for those cheap plastic dress up shoes!  Little Adventures also has princess dress ups for dolls, bears, and even adults.  They have a line of boys costumes too including prince, knight, and hero capes like superhero and bathero.

If your child is not as much into princesses, but still likes to dress up, try a machine washable cheerleader costumes.  It would be great for a birthday present, Halloween costume, Christmas gift, or for any other occasion where you might bring or give a gift for little girls.

postheadericon Princess Bedroom Decorating on a Budget

Every little girl deserves the royal treatment, but it can get costly. No need to worry. You can create a princess royal suite on a paupers budget.
Here are a few tips to help create the perfect princess room without spending a lot of money.
Paint can become costly, especially if the room is large. Try just touching up areas that need it. If her room is in desperate need of repainting, try purchasing returned paint. Some home stores may have cans of paint that were returned and they resell at a discounted price. Another option is to paint stripes on the wall. You will use half the paint you would have needed to paint the entire room and add a decorative touch to the room. If stripes aren’t your style, trying painting the lower half of the walls and then adding a handpainted or wallpaper border to the top of the painted area. Again you are using half of the amount of paint and adding a decorative touch.
If you are starting from scratch and need furntire to fill the room, you have several options here as well. Visit flea markets and rumage sales for dressers and bed frames. You can paint the pieces to match each other. Get creative by adding her initials to the furniture pieces or adding wall stickers to them. White, pinks and purples are the basic princess colors. If you have a toddler, you can find a princess bedroom kit for about $150 or so. It usually includes a princess themed toddler bed, toy storage chest and a table and chair set. The bedroom in a box needs assembly and can range in what is offered.
If you already have outdated or worn furniture, you can spruce them with some paints and decals for a new and fresh look. Find images of princess furniture online and try to duplicate using paint. This could save you hundreds of dollars in new furniture alone.
To fill the walls you can visit your local superstore and buy princess themed posters that cost less than $5 each. The posters are fairly large and will cover a large portion of wall space. Try adding it to an inexpensive poster frame for an extra touch.
Wall sticker decals are fairly popular and are inexpensive. You can spread them around the room or add to one wall for a dramatic effect. Either way, you have wall decor at a low cost.
Princess Bedding can be expensive, so you can try solid colored bedding in pink or purple and then purchase a princess themed pillowcase or throw pillow. Keep an eye out for sales on bedding at the local stores to get a good price.
Decorating your daughters room to fit a princess theme doesn’t have to be expensive. Remember that not all items have to be princess. Bedding and window treatments can be solid colored and then add princess themed touches around the room. Princess themed rugs, accent pillows, wall decals and posters make the perfect accessories for your daughter’s royal princess suite.

postheadericon Fairy Princess Costume

You are not going to find many young girls that are not fascinated, at least for a little, with fairies. They may play fairies with their friends, and they may also want to be a fairy for Halloween. They may not ask for it on their own, but they may love the idea if you suggest it to them. Little girls tend to go for ideas that have wings, wands, and special powers. Fairies fit right in with this. If they already have a fairy princess costume that they wear all of the time, they may be all set to go, but you may want to add some special touches for Halloween night.

When it comes to a fairy princess costume, there are some great ideas out there that you can go out and buy as a whole. For some girls, this works well, but you do have to be careful how you do it. They may see something that you bring home and tell you that it is not what they want and you are going to have to make them wear it, or go out and buy something else. If you want to go get a fairy princess costume this way, you should take your little girl with you. That way she can choose what she wants, and then can not argue that it is not quite right.

Making a fairy princess costume is rather easy if you have the right things. You want to have some sort of dress that is sparkly in some way, and then you have to find some wings. Butterfly wings can work, but some girls want ones that are clear and luminescent for a more authentic look. You want a wand, and any other thing they think would go with a fairy princess costume. Costume jewelry is always going to be a nice touch. Think of pieces that have glitter and sparkle, as we all know fairies are supposed to be fancy.

You can also find some amazing pieces for your fairy princess costume if you look online. You can also find some complete costumes that are going to be just what your daughter wants to wear. You can easily have her go online with you and look through the choices that you can find on various web sites. Make sure you check out many different sites, as each may have something different and also, they have different prices. Order early to be sure it gets there on time, and be careful with the sizing. Go one size up if you are not sure to be certain it is going to fit them.

postheadericon How to Have a Princess Party from Your Back Yard

With summer quickly fading, and fall arriving on its heels, the weather is finally perfect for holding an enjoyable back yard birthday party.  One of the bonuses of having a party outside is, especially with little kids, is that you don’t have to worry about your house getting messy or unsightly spills on your floors!  Kids love to play outside and it gives them lots of room to run around, be silly, and have lots of fun at a princess party.  Even if you don’t have a nice back yard that is fenced in (so that no little princesses escape), many neighbors, friends, or family would mostly likely be willing to loan you theirs for a few hours for the party.  If you would rather not ask friends or family, then try holding your birthday celebration at a local park.  You will need to ask more adults to help watch, since parks are so large and you want to make sure that no kids get lost.  It is also acceptable to invite the parents to come as well, and then you won’t have to worry about watching so many kids.

It would be fun to invite your guests to wear princess clothing to the party or their favorite fancy dress.  If you want to get extra fancy, you could provide a dress for each attendee to wear to the party.  Many online retailers offer bulk discounts for parties or travels to Disney theme parks.

One fun activity you can use at your backyard princess party is swimming.  You could put a kiddie pool in your backyard and let the water entertain the children.  You could have fun princess items for them to use in the pool like princess water and sand toys.  Sprinklers are fun too and are a little less messy than a pool.  Don’t forget to remind your guests to wear sunscreen.

Another idea would be to hold a back yard picnic complete with princess picnic ware like tablecloths, plate, napkins, and cups.  It would be fun to have a barbeque with hotdogs and hamburgers or serve items you might serve at a baby shower like finger sandwiches, small desserts and things that can be consumed in one bite.  Cupcakes or mini cupcakes would be the perfect dessert for an outdoor princess party.

Decorations suitable for the outdoors may include helium balloons in pink and white, streams can be spread out between a deck and trees or hanging from branches.  If you are hosting an evening birthday party, you could use outdoor lighting and maybe include a ball or dancing in your activity list.  It would be fun to invite a father or an actor dressed up as a prince to twirl the little girls around in their pretty dresses.

There are some outdoor games that are fun to play at parties, including hopscotch and hide and seek.  If you have a lot of trees and hiding places in your yard, you could do some kind of princess scavenger hunt where guests are given clues to find certain princess items such as wands, crowns, tiaras, princess shoes, princess dresses, and so on.  You could even make these items favors so the girls can take them home with them.

Most of all, just have fun at your daughter’s back yard party!

postheadericon Finding Comfortable Princess Costumes

Little girls love to twirl in dress up costumes and dance through the kitchen, not fidget in uncomfortable dresses that leave scratches or rashes. One of the most important features in girls dress up costumes is the comfort factor; otherwise, what good are princess Disney costumes if your little girl won’t wear them? An itchy Cinderella princess dress is likely to be left in the closet with an awkward fitting Snow White princess dress. There are a few things you can look for on the tags when shopping for girls dress up costumes. So before purchasing another princess Disney costume, consider this:

First, look at the brand. Yes, we have to check the label. Is it a brand that has a reputation for being comfortable? Companies like Little Adventures have a steady following with customers who love their comfort factor. If you’re not sure of the brand, ask around or search online for reviews. Some companies, like Little Adventures, lists testimonials and awards on their company website. Also, check the brand’s mission statement or focus. Little Adventures lists comfort as one of the key items in their mission statement.

While you’re looking at the label, make sure that this Cinderella princess dress is machine washable. No matter how much those dry-clean only Snow White princess dresses look like they’ll be worth it, they’re not. No little girl wants to play in a dirty princess Disney costume and the frequent need for washing will make a dry-clean only costume an unnecessary expense and hassle.

Next, look over the dress. Does it have any added comfort features? One of the nicest added features are dresses that are silk-lined, which makes them the ultimate in comfort. If the girls dress up costumes are not silk-lined, make sure there are no itchy underskirts or inner fabrics that will irritate the skin.

Are the seams finished? Unfinished seams and hems, especially on delicate dress fabrics, will make princess Disney costumes “itchy.” Many dress up companies, like Little Adventures, will list if they ensure that all seams and hems are finished, so you can have the quality assurance without having to check every seam of the dress.

You’ll also want to think about how the dress is put on. Girls dress up costumes have come a long way in recent years, and many costumes are easy enough now that young girls can pull their Cinderella princess dress on and off all by themselves. They key is in a stretchy bodice. Wider necks in dresses, like some Snow White costumes, also enable small fingers the satisfaction of dressing themselves. Buttons and ties are typically the hardest for girls use by themselves. Zippers are often easier, as are snaps. The most important thing is to make sure that the princesses wearing the girls dress up costumes will be able to use the dress.

Lastly, consider size. A tight fitting princess dress may look best on your daughter, but will it allow her to sit comfortably on the floor when she has a tea party with her stuffed animals? The dress should be loose enough for the princess to dance in her ballroom, whatever her ballroom will be. Measure your daughter, and record her measurements. Compare these with the ones listed on the sizing charts for the princess Disney costumes. You’ll want something with a little room to grow in, so that the dress stays comfortable for a while. Just make sure not to order something so big that she steps on it as she walks!

Every little princess deserves to be comfortable, that way her mind can be focused on the imaginative aspects of her dress and her play, not the uncomfortable fit of her costume.
